Day 1, : Kota Kinabalu (D) (Acco)
Welcome to Borneo! On Day 1, we will pick you up from the airport. Once each participant has arrived and checked in to the hotel, our guide will give you a thorough briefing about the adventures to come. Bike fitting included. You are then free at leisure to explore the city as you please: check out the local Filipino Market, Malls and “Kopitiams” (coffee shops) around Kota Kinabalu. Evening meal provided. Overnight @ City Center Hotel.
Day 2, : Kota Kinabalu / Borneo Traditional Longhouse (B,L,D) (Acco)
After breakfast, transfer overland to rural areas of Borneo. Bike through the scenic terrain to a remote Indigenous village. Here, get acquainted with the local people. Learn about their daily activities such as weaving, rubber tapping and pounding rice. Witness their cultural dances and learn about the traditions and rituals that lie at the heart of the village. Share a dinner of Sabahan delicacies with the locals and spend overnight in their traditional longhouse.
Day 3, : Local Village (B,L,D) (Acco)
Wake up early and enjoy a hearty breakfast. Then, join the guide, fellow travelers and locals as we spend the day working to benefit the local community. Activities vary depending on the needs of the villagers; typically, the working day will involve painting or building extensions onto local schools, improving the community center or repairing damaged houses & buildings. Enjoy a well-earned dinner after work ; a feast of delicious local foods, puddings and drinks. Overnight stay at the traditional longhouse.
Day 4, : Local Village / Kinabatangan (B,L,D) (Acco)
After breakfast, we will bid farewell to our local hosts and begin the drive to Kinabatangan. On the way, we will stop to witness the thousands of bats and cockroaches in the nearby caves (optional). Later, we will transfer via boat to Kinabatangan Jungle, just in time for an afternoon wildlife cruise. Enjoy a sumptuous buffet dinner before overnight stay.
Day 5, : Kayaking the Kinabatangan (B,L,D) (Acco)
Rise early for breakfast, and get ready for your Kinabatangan Kayaking Experience. After the safety briefing, kayak in search of the diverse wildlife that exists in the Kinabatangan River. Pygmy elephants, snakes, monkeys and orangutan are just some of the wild animals you may spot in the dense jungle surrounding the river banks. After the kayaking experience, take a late lunch and then you are free at leisure to explore the jungle or simply relax and enjoy the ambiance of the rainforest. Delicious dinner will be served and later you will have the chance to take part in an optional night cruise across the river, in search of wildlife that is active after the sun goes down.
Wake up to the call of Gibbon and hornbills and enjoy an early breakfast. Transfer to the jetty where your bikes will be waiting. We will cycle on safe stretches of road, past scenic villages and fields, before transferring via vehicle to the Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center. Upon arrival, proceed to the free roaming area feeding platform for the feeding of the Orangutans. At the center, we will have the opportunity to observe the Orangutan being rehabilitated to be returned back into their natural habitat. You will also have the opportunity to experience a walk in the Tropical Dipterocarp forest of Borneo.
Day 7, : Turtle Island (Acco)(B,L,D)
Early check-out before our vehicle transfers you to the jetty for a boat ride to Turtle Island. After lunch at the cafeteria, you are free at your own leisure; snorkel, swim, explore the island, or simply relax on the beach. Enjoy an informative slideshow followed by a sumptuous dinner. After this, wait for the rangers call to observe the Mother Turtle laying her eggs by the shore. Follow the rangers as they transfer the eggs to the hatchery, before heading back to the shore to witness the release of baby turtles to the open sea. Overnight at Island Chalet.
Day 8, : Turtle Island / Sandakan Airport (B)
After breakfast, check out early from Turtle Island. Our transport will be waiting at the jetty to transfer you to Sandakan airport for your return flight. ~End of Tour~
