Borneo Conservation Eco Excursion
Day 1 Padas White Water Rafting
We will pick you up from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu area at 0730hrs, then proceed the ride to Tenom for about 2.5 hours drive. On the way, we will pass lush paddy fields, village settlements, and you will be able to witness the sublime views of the mystical Mount Kinabalu.Conquer rapids with names like Headhunter, Cobra Point, Merry-go-Round and Adrenaline Flow. Witness the untouched nature on the banks of the river and “soak up” the atmosphere! Once we reach Tenom, we will then take the 45min train ride to Pangi – the “Last Train of Borneo”- that cuts through the beautiful jungle and takes us to the starting point for rafting. Once you reach Pangi, light refreshments and simple fruits will be served and you will be given a thorough safety briefing by one of our knowledgeable, fun and adventurous guides. Start rafting from Pangi and proceed through the crashing waves down to Rayoh. Participate in paddling, have a swim, and – if you’re also feeling adventurous- body raft at points along the river. Take a well-earned break for a while and have your lunch. After lunch, continue rafting to Halogilat, the ending point for the rafting. Ride the antique train from Halogilat to Beaufort. We will then transfer you to the Nature Lodge, where you can dry off, change and relax before we head into Beaufort town to “Restoran Malaysia”, where you will be able to feast on delicious Malay and Chinese food amongst the Beaufort locals. Head back to the Nature Lodge for overnight stay.
Day 2 Beaufort Nature Trail
Wake up early and begin the Nature Walk. A wooden walkway winds through the jungle, the perfect vantage point to see the diverse plant life, trees and vegetation surrounding us. After the walk, we will return to the lodge for breakfast. You will then be free at your own leisure, before our nature guide takes you for tree planting. Macaque Monkeys can also be observed, as well as the rare silver languor, water buffalo and a variety of birds. This is to expand the forest and preserve it for future generations to appreciate. We will then enjoy a simple lunch, after which we will proceed to the nearby lake to take part in catch-and-release fishing. We will then proceed to mountain bike through the village on the flat roads, for around 1.5hours. At approximately 3pm, we will proceed to the Klias Wetlands to see Proboscis Monkeys and Fireflies on the rivercruise. As you sail through the Klias, Proboscis Monkeys can be spotted on the surrounding trees feeding. You may also witness the breathtaking sunset and thousands of fireflies twinkling amongst the mangrove trees like fairy lights while cruising back to the River Lodge. Upon reaching the Jetty, a sumptuous Malay Traditional dinner will be served. After dinner, we will return to Kota Kinabalu.
