Day 1 : Kinabalu Park & Poring Hot Spring

Kinabalu Park, now proclaimed a World Heritage Site, covers an area of 754sq.km and possesses the highest mountain

 in South East Asia. The park is rife with exotic plants, birds and insects, with new species being discovered each year. A visit to the Exhibit Center and Mountain Garden reveal some of Mother Nature’s miracles.

At 0800hrs, we will pick you up from your hotel and depart by road for the park, traversing the Crocker Range with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. There will be a brief stop at a native market where you can browse through the freshly picked local fruits, vegetables, flowers and beautiful handicrafts, providing you with the perfect opportunity to pick up a souvenir. At

Kinabalu Park, daily guided walks are scheduled, ideal for those who would rather refrain from exploring the various marked trails on their own. We will enjoy lunch at the park before proceeding to Poring Hot Springs, approximitely a 1hr drive away.

Poring Hot Springs lies on the southern boundary of the park. Open-air bathtubs are fed by sulphurous underground springs, offering gentle relief for tired muscles, and believed by many to have therapeutic properties. For those with energy to spare, there’s a canopy walkway through the lowland rain forest. After that, you are free to explore or relax at your own leisure before transfer to Tea Garden, Kg Nalapak, Ranau.

Day 2 : Sabah Tea Garden, Kg Nalapak, Ranau

With sprawling tea plantation surrounded by pristine rainforests in the cool mountain air, the Sabah Tea Garden beckons you to indulge in it’s beautiful surroundings, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

After arriving at the Sabah Tea Garden, enjoy a sumptuous Malay dinner before checking into Sabah Tea Long house rooms for overnight stay.

Wake up in the morning on day two and enjoy the beautiful sunrise views of Mt Kinabalu. Relax over breakfast in the open air restaurant, which looks out across the undulating tea plantation and the distant Mountain surrounded by clouds.

After breakfast, you are free at your own leisure, and may participate in any of the following activities:

Tea is something many of us consume daily, but did you ever wonder how it gets from the plantation to the tea bag?Discover the process of preparing tea the Eco-friendly, Sabahan way at the Sabah Tea Factory. The factory guide will take you through every step of the process, from leaf collection to packaging and distribution, and will reveal how to tell quality teas from those containing colourings and additives. The tour includes a booklet on tea processing as well as a complimentary 50g packet of loose leaf tea.

Sabah Tea Factory

The Sabah Tea factory is situated on Quailey’s Hill – where Australian POW’s were forced by Japanese guards to embark on the atrocious death march from Sandakan to Ranau during  WWII, on a route which runs through the tea plantation. An educational video reveals more about the Soldiers, their wartime experiences and their untimely deaths, after which we will visit the Quailey Memorial to pay our own tributes to these brave young Soldiers whose lives were so tragically lost.

12:45PM Drop by Souvenir Shop where you can purchase a gift pack of Exotic Sabah Teas, Sabah Tea Chocolates, Apple Green Sabah Tea Polo Shirts, or Borneo Rainforest Organic Teas, as well as books, sarongs and handicrafts.

01:00PM Tagal Fish Spa

fishspa-4In Kadazandusun dialect, ‘Tagal‘ means, “No Fishing”. The main purpose of ‘Tagal‘ is to preserve the ecosystem for future generations. The fish, ‘Ikan Pelian’, are trained by villagers in the Kg Luanti Baru river to approach humans and perform their unique healing massage. Stand or wade through the water while the Ikan Pelian weave past legs and nibble away dead skin. The fish massage is deemed to have a curative effect on those who suffers from psoriasis, and is also said to leave skin more supple and smooth.

02:00PM Depart for Kundasang

At Kundasang, you will have the opportunity to visit Australian/ British/ Borneo Gardens at War Memorial. Kundasang is also famous for its local delicacy “Satay Buntut”, that is if you dare because this is not just your conventional chicken skewers or “Satay”. “Buntut” is referring to the chicken butt, we will let you figure out the rest.  The town is also busy with the hustle and bustle of the local fruits and vegetable stalls.

You should arrive back in Kota Kinabalu at 5:30 PM.
